Ingredients
 

For the filling
  • 2 cups chicken boiled and shredded
  • 2 tablespoons Planta margarine
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 carrot chopped
  • 2 celery sticks finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
For the pastry
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Planta margarine
  • 5 to 6 tablespoons ice water
  • 1 egg whisked

Instructions
 

  1. Heat Planta margarine in a pan and add the onions and garlic. Cook for 1 min.
  2. Add the carrots, celery, thyme salt and pepper and stir. Cover and cook for 5 - 6 minutes. Add the chicken and give it a stir.
  3. Add flour and mix and then add the milk. Cook for 2 -3 minutes or until thick. Let the mixture cool down.
  4. For the pastry add the flour into a bowl and mix in some salt. Add the Planta margarine and pour a little ice-cold water at a time as you bring the flour together to form a dough.
  5. Chill the dough for 20 – 30 minutes, roll a portion of the dough into a circle and then add some chicken mix into the middle place another dough circle on top.
  6. Press the edges down using a fork and then brush each pie with some egg wash.
  7. Bake the pies at 180C for 22 - 25 minutes until golden brown.
